Ho, ho, ho, holiday parties are here! The decorations are up, the lights are twinkling, and there's that perfect sparkle reflecting in everyone's eyes. The setting is perfect, so of course someone will suggest, "Let's take a picture!"
We all know, some people are just blessed with those great genes that allows them to look perfect in E V E R Y picture. We call them photogenic. The true secret is that it's probably more good preparation than good genes. So, we'll break it down for you in 3 easy steps to ensure you're ready for holiday pictures all season long. You'll love the results so much, you may even have one framed.
1. Brow Power - Soooo many people forget to give their eyebrows attention during their makeup routine. We get it, if you like a quick makeup fix, you don't always want to mess with drawing - what may feel like to you - "caterpillars" above your eyes. We don't want that for you either. Caterpillars are obviously not becoming on anyone. A well shaped and shaded eyebrow has the power to give you an instant facelift. It's true. Here's a picture of Emma Watson to prove it (this image has been photoshopped, rest assured Emma did not shave off her brows).
Without brows, Emma appears older. Her eyes look droopy and her face unbalanced. A great brow will frame your face and balance your features, while perking up your eyes for a more awake result. In addition, her brows are a natural shade darker than her hair color.
It's important to really fill in your brows with the perfect darker shade and shape, so that they will better show up in pictures. Camera flashes and glares can sometimes wash out your brows, so it's crucial that you give them extra attention during your makeup application. Learn how to achieve the perfect brow here.
2. The Perfect Lip - Just like brows, lips can age you or make you. Even if you don't normally wear a darker lipstick, applying a little bit of a darker shade than you normally would, will pop in a picture. No, we don't recommend that you pucker up with duck lips, just a little color and shine will do. Wait, here's the really good stuff.... because we know there's lots of eating and drinking at these holiday parties, we recommend using LipSense by SeneGence for extended wear. This long-lasting lip color is waterproof, does not kiss-off, smear-off, rub-off or budge-off! So, pour yourself another glass, or get a 2nd food helping, because you'll be ready no matter when you get surprised with a photo request. This jewel lasts anywhere from 4-18 hours and comes in a variety of colors that you can mix and match for the perfect shade.
3. Strike a Pose - Everyone has "good side". We admit, sometimes we request to swap sides with someone when posing for a picture. If you feel comfortable making this request, then do it! If not, here's some body language you should know. Avoid a double chin catastrophe, elongate your neck and push your face forward a bit. It feels weird, but it will look great. To look slimmer, put your hand on your hip, angle your body to the side and turn your head towards the camera. Lastly, look at your favorite pictures of yourself. Do you spot a pattern? Remember how your smiling, standing, etc and replicate that before the camera clicks.
And there you have it. You are now ready for all the photo requests that come your way!
