About Face and Body: Helping You Look and Feel Your Best

Living with scars can be challenging and can affect your self-esteem and confidence. At About Face and Body, we understand the difficulties scars can cause and offer a variety of scar revision and scar camouflage treatments to improve acne scars, tummy tuck scars, surgery scars & more. Whether you’re dealing with scars from accidents, surgery, or skin conditions, we’re here to help.

Different Types of Scars

There are four main types of scars: keloids, contracture scars, hypertrophic scars, and acne scars. Keloids are more common in people with darker skin and appear raised and larger than the original injury. Contracture scars are caused by burns and can limit mobility. Hypertrophic scars are red and slightly raised, while acne scars can appear as deep pits or have irregular shapes. It’s also important to remember that some scars may heal lighter or darker than the surrounding skin.

Scar Removal and Camouflage Techniques

At About Face and Body, we offer a range of effective scar removal and camouflage techniques, including microneedling with Procell Stem Cell Growth Factor, diluted ink camouflage, and red-light therapy. These procedures are minimally invasive and allow for quick recovery. Our treatments aim to reduce the visibility of scars and boost confidence, although results may vary from person to person.

Microneedling with Procell Stem Cell Growth Factor

Microneedling, also known as Microchanneling, CIT, or Ink-less camouflage for scars, can enhance the appearance of various skin issues, such as fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, stretch marks, and rosacea. By undergoing multiple treatments, the process stimulates the production of new collagen and improves scar appearance, resulting in a better skin texture and appearance. Procell’s serums, derived from human bone marrow stem cells, enhance these effects by supplying growth factors that lead to a youthful skin appearance and a fast recovery.
We recommend starting with a microneedling session using Procell serum, as it can enhance melanin production in lighter scars and reduce hyperpigmentation in darker scars. Even if the color of the scar doesn’t change, its texture will improve, making it a better candidate for tattooing. Learn more about Procell treatments on our Procell webpage.

Red-Light Therapy

Red and infrared light therapy has been proven effective in boosting collagen production and reducing scars by stimulating fibroblasts. As the skin absorbs the light, it improves circulation and decreases inflammation, speeding up the healing process and minimizing aftercare needs. During a typical 10-minute session, the client relaxes under a warm panel of lights.

Scar Camouflage: What You Need to Know

Scar camouflage is a cosmetic procedure that aims to reduce the visibility of scars by blending the color of the scar with the surrounding skin using skin-colored tattoo ink. Scar camouflage can be performed on various body parts and can be an excellent option for those who feel self-conscious about scars caused by injury, surgery, or other factors.
However, there are some drawbacks to ink camouflage:
  • The ink may not match your skin tone after sun exposure and may fade or shift in color over time, making it less natural and more noticeable. You may need to have the tattoo reapplied every 1 1/2 to 2 years.
  • Matching the skin tone of someone with dark skin can be difficult and may result in a shadow effect. On the other hand, topical makeup can be used to cover the scar better.
  • Stretch marks with a wrinkly texture should never be treated with ink camouflage as it will make the stretch mark lines more visible.
  • Stretch mark tissue is delicate and prone to hyperpigmentation in individuals with darker skin tones.
  • Skin camouflage for vitiligo and melasma is unpredictable and requires a skilled technician.
  • Camouflage tattoo ink removal is ineffective on scars due to damaged tissue and can lead to long-lasting hyperpigmentation.

Before getting scar camouflage, have a color test by tattooing diluted ink on a portion of the scar. Wait for proper healing time before evaluating the color match. If satisfied, proceed with full tattooing with confidence.

Things to Expect From Scar Camouflage and Treatment

  • A topical numbing agent is used during the procedure to keep patients comfortable. Most patients say microneedling and ink camouflage feel like being poked with a small pin. Mild discomfort and flaking may be experienced a few days after either procedure, similar to healing from a light sunburn.
  • Expect a minimum of 3-4 treatments for each scar or area. Treatment frequency for lighter skin may be every 4-8 weeks. However, if you’re prone to hyperpigmentation, treatments may need to be spaced further apart (every 12-16 weeks) due to the risk of the area becoming darker after treatment. It’s important to note that hyperpigmentation is unpredictable, and some hyperpigmentation may not disappear.
  • After the procedure, patients can typically return to their normal activities immediately or within 6 -24 hours. It is essential to use a high-SPF sunscreen and follow the provided post-care instructions.
When choosing a treatment for a scar, you should consider whether the worst-case scenario after treatment is better than the scar or condition you are trying to treat.

Technician Qualifications and Experience for Scar Camouflage

When seeking a scar removal or camouflage treatment, it’s essential to understand the qualifications and experience of the technician. A person who provides scar revision and camouflage techniques may have a training certificate or tattoo license. Still, scar camouflage is an advanced technique learned more from hands-on experience than a training course. Make sure to understand the amount of experience the technician has.

Cost and Treatment Options

The cost of a procedure may vary based on the level of correction needed and will be discussed during a consultation. Package pricing is available, and our fees are competitive for Scar Camouflage services in Orlando, Florida.

Best eyebrows ever! (and I’ve tried 3 different states) Would recommend to my friends and family without the slightest hesitation. Personalized, I didn’t feel like a number or that anyone was in a rush to get to the next client. For once they who know more about makeup and eyebrow placement than me. They made sure I didn't make the typical mistakes that actually make you look older. I really can’t say enough about how pleased I am! They made me feel like I had a team behind me, helping me restore to my face and scalp, what age and medications had taken from me. Over the years they’ve done a few treatment and procedures -tattoo removal, eyeliner, eyebrows, hair restoration and scar treatment. I drive 45 min to get there, but I’d drive 2 hrs for this kind of care and compassion.

From the first time I reached out to About Face and Body Jennifer was so awesome with explaining my procedure. I am seeing Jennifer for a hypertrophic scar and to lighten my scars from a tummy tuck. I just had my first session with her stem cell Microneedling along with red light therapy. Jennifer has excellent bed side manner and very educated with all procedures. I’m looking forward to working with Jennifer.

I love this shop. I had permanent eyeliner applied in 2019. Still looks great. Had my eyebrows done twice. Iget several compliments on the color and shape perfection. Currently I am doing scar reclamation. I see improvements every day. Highly recommend the owner and her assistant.

I love my new eyebrows (Microblading), I had them done yesterday. I was a little scared at first because I heard it was painful however the numbing cream they used was great, felt no pain! Very knowledgeable and took time to explain everything. I would definitely recommend them!
